[09 Feb 2010|07:08pm]

this is a picture of a Christian Dior choker:

I'm looking for a better picture, or a little information: does anybody know from which collection this is? And I'm also pretty sure the hat and choker are featured in a dior (perfume?) advertisement. Does anybody know which one?

Thanks a lot!

trying to remember the name of a designer... help please [01 Oct 2007|05:47pm]

hey! I don't know if any of you can help me out here. does anyone else remember a designer who did a collection featuring what looked like kente cloth, but the prints were actually cell phones and things like that? I totally can't recall if it was a menswear or womenswear line. I thought it was jeremy scott but apparently not! also, alexandre herchcovitch did a kente cloth-inspired collection with razor blades last season, which threw me off. but I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining this other person! if you can think of who it might have been, please let me know, because I'm trying to write an article where this would come in handy. thanks!

isabella blow, r.i.p. [08 May 2007|10:06pm]

ISABELLA BLOW's husband Detmar confirmed this morning that the 48-year-old fashion guru lost her battle with ovarian cancer in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The news has shocked the international fashion world, for whom Isabella has been a bastion, credited with the discovery of such successful figures as Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant. "She was a ray of sunshine," said Detmar, of the woman he proposed to just 16 days after meeting her at a wedding in 1988 before marrying her the following year. "She was a beautiful, brave woman; indefatigable, courageous and brilliantly intellectual." Blow, who recently underwent surgery to remove a tumour, had been confined to hospital for some time but her husband said he had still been hopeful of a recovery. "She was original, impactful, generous-minded and spotted some of the greatest talents," said Geordie Greig, editor of Tatler magazine for which Blow was still working as a contributing editor. "She was the most intelligent and creative person in fashion. In many ways she was the British queen of fashion. She was intoxicating. You could never get enough of her. She was a free spirit." Philip Treacy, whose hats Isabella was rarely seen without, also paid tribute from the Blow country home this morning: "She was a great champion of young people," he said. "She came from the establishment but she was a punk at heart. Her love was talent, rather than money. Her ethos was beauty and elegance. And her encouragement was rare." (May 8 2007, AM)

issey 2007 spring/summer [07 Dec 2006|08:03am]

hello everyone here,

for  the spring and summer collection, i attended the shows in paris especially the VERY LAST show by naoki takizawa. it was his very last collection for chez miyake. that said, is anyone here interested in buying the show favor given to only guests in the 1st and 2nd row? it is a collectors item and i normally would not sell it, but i am raising funds to buy a beautiful object from the last rochas collection and given miyake and rochas, i chose rochas.

the picts are of my invite, so you can see it is real and did come from the last show. and then the object: a beautiful paper fan--gold, aquamarine and green depicting issey miyake near the arc de triomphe and champs-élysées. there is a gold foil at the bottom.

Badgley Mischka website not helping me... [10 Sep 2006|05:40pm]

[ mood | awake ]

...I adore a lot of the new stuff in their new Platinum Sportwear line, and found a photo in WWD in the last couple of weeks (Aug.22 or so) of a charming piratey/waiter/tuxedo-looking jacket in pale brocade with a ruffled shirt, and no designer (vogue, marfy, anything available at www.sewingpatterns.com ) carries a pattern that simply has a good copy of those jacket lines. There are countless jackets, BUT nothing with the low shawl/tuxedo collar and overlapping front with a couple of lines of buttons. First question: does the Badgley Mischka website give anybody else fits? The inner window opens, but excludes a lot of the text, so you can try to click on the things to the right, and get nowhere. I do have the proper flash installed, and can see the visuals, only...too small, and not functional! Second question is where to get a good pattern for this yummy jacket...I have a photo from WWD, but can't scan it. I was hoping to spy it on their website and then be able to point it out...thanks, all!

my husband is in dire need of a fitted, black, moto jacket (i.e. one snap collar). alas, we can find nothing but fat mulleted men and banana republic professor models wearing LY-cubeds. we've checked all the usuals; revolve, urban, gap, guyshop, ebay, etc.

his fashionable fate is in your hands, children.

Helmut Lang Sold to Link Theory

MILAN (March 20, 2006) - Prada Group has agreed to sell the Helmut Lang brand to Tokyo-based Link Theory Holdings Co. Ltd. Terms were not disclosed. The Japanese company is hunting for a designer to revive Helmut Lang into a contemporary line and issued a warm appeal to the namesake Austrian who left his company last year. “We're always welcome if Mr. Lang is interested in working with us,” Hidetsugu Onishi, Link Theory's CFO said in a phone interview Friday. “We hope that we can have a good relationship with him in the future.” Onishi stressed that the company hasn't decided on a designer yet. He said Link Theory prefers “younger talents” but he declined to comment on a recent report that Alexandre Plokhov, designer of men's wear line Cloak, was headed to the label. Link Theory went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange last summer. It owns the Theory business in Japan and the U.S., runs its own retail network and clients such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. AMANDA KAISER

Comin up fast [08 Mar 2006|01:50pm]

[ mood | nervous ]

OMG! I just got off the phone with the Wardrobe Stylist. She had a few questions for me, like what size shoe I wear, what pant size I wear, if I have any converse or cigarette pants (ummm....No) , and that stuff. So, i took the liberty to ask her what the look was going to be, and I must say I was just a wee bit disappointed to hear it is an Eighties Punk look! I liked the Glam Rock look that Christian said they were doing! Oh well, I *am* suppose to be their canvas I suppose. But yeah, I'm Still Excited!!!
